Through the SLCS Foundation you can also support annual grants for learning opportunities over and above what the school budget can provide.

Life Skills

  • Fall 2018

    Built for Others Fund partners with the YMCA for a Field Day at Camp Foster. Skill development for “Working with Others” designed for 3rd grade students.

  • Fall 2018

    Built for Others Fund partners with Spencer's Underground to present and “Anti Bullying” presentation with national speaker, Keith Deltono.

  • Spring 2019

    Built for Others Fund presents “Autism Awareness Day” with Jesse Horn as a special guest.

  • 2020 - 2023

    The Built for Others Fund is providing an enrichment grant for Spirit Lake High School to implement the Grit 365 program with all freshmen. The program focuses on building grit/perseverance.

Educational Outings

  • History Trip Awarded annually

    5th grade students traveled to the Grotto in West Bend, Living History Farms and the State Capitol in Des Moines.

  • History Trip Awarded annually

    4th grade students traveled to the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center in Sioux City.

  • Government Trip Awarded annually

    High School Students experienced government in action at the State Capitol in Des Moines while the state legislature was in session.

Music Grants

  • Alice O. Mendenhall Music Grants Awarded annually

    Alice O. Mendenhall Music Grants were presented to the Instrumental and Vocal Music Departments for materials and upgrades of equipment.

Technology Grants

  • Polaris Technology Grant

    In 2020, through the generosity of a donation from Polaris Foundation, the Spirit Lake School Foundation provided an enrichment grant of over $60,000 to Spirit Lake Community School District to provide technology to help meet the needs of local students for online learning so necessary at this time.
